ASRM Recap!

Earlier this month we shared news of our presence at the annual American Society for Reproductive Medicine Scientific Congress & Expo in Salt Lake City, UT. This was our first year exhibiting together with both Reprogenetics and Genesis Genetics, as part of the CooperSurgical family.

The hustle and bustle of an exhibition hall is always exciting– the sound of knowledge being exchanged and new relationships forming. We were a part of the noise with presentations on a number of topics including, aneuploidy in preimplantation embryos, improving IVF outcomes, telecounseling, and mosaicism along with its implications for pregnancy. Our speaker series included a talk by Tony Gordon, UK Lab Director for Genesis Genetics, on the clinical advantages of PGS. Mike Large, Genomic Laboratories Director for CooperSurgical, discussed the benefits of understanding mosaicism moving forward. And Dr. Serena Chen of the Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Science (IRMS) at Saint Barnabas shared a very important talk on why we should care about access to IVF.

Our teams were excited to have two award winning papers presented at ASRM this year. “Transfer Fresh or Vitrify After Blastocyst Biopsy? Results of an RCT” was selected as the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) prize paper. Alison Coates of Oregon Reproductive Medicine is first author. Selected as a Scientific Prize Paper, “Low Level Mosaicism: Incidence and Implications on Clinical Pregnancies”, was presented by first author Dawn Kelk of Yale Fertility Center.

Here is what Stephanie Sehnert, our Medical Marketing Associate had to say about the meeting:

There was an overwhelming buzz around mosaicism at ASRM, and it was great to be able to hear from Drs. Santi Munne and Mike Large on the research they have done on the clinical implications of this. Now that we have the technology capable of accurately detecting mosaicism, we must determine how best to handle these embryos and how to handle the patient counseling. The Reprogenetics and Genesis Genetics teams are embarking on some really interesting research initiatives that will further inform this.
